Canadian Scenery Illustrated.

From Drawings by W. H. Bartlett.

The Literary Department by

N. P. Willis, Esq.

Author of “Pencilings by the Way,” “Inkings of Adventure,” Etc.

Volumes 1 & 2

These incredible books display 118 engravings; one of Bartlett himself and 117 images that William Henry Bartlett depicted on his voyages to Niagara from Halifax between 1836-1838. Bartlett’s sepia wash drawings were copied and engraved by various engravers in London. The engravings were accompanied by text from Nathaniel Parker Willis and published here within. These books were published for the Proprietors by George Virtue in London, 26 Ivy Lane in 1842.

This wonderful set features textured pale brown covers with classic red and gold embossed titles at the top of the book’s spines. The title page has been coloured but all other images remain un coloured.

Both volumes are in good condition inside. There is some foxing and browning on some of the pages, as can be seen. The book covers are only slightly worn, as can be seen. Everything is still fully intact in each of the volumes.
